What we treat

Common dental emergencies

If something is hurting or broken, do not wait until you get home. Treating it early is usually simpler and helps you enjoy the rest of your trip.

  • Severe toothache

Pain that wakes you up or does not go away with painkillers. Often caused by a deep cavity or an infection.

  • Broken or chipped tooth

From biting something hard or a fall. We repair it with a filling, a crown or a temporary restoration.

  • Lost filling or crown

Keep the crown and bring it with you. In many cases it can be cleaned and cemented back.

  • Swelling or gum infection

Swelling in the gum or face needs prompt attention to control the infection.

  • Wisdom tooth pain

Pain and inflammation around a wisdom tooth. We relieve the pain and plan the next steps.

  • Knocked-out tooth

Time matters: follow the steps below and come in as soon as possible.

While you get here

What to do right now

  1. Knocked-out tooth

Hold it by the crown, never by the root. If it is dirty, rinse it briefly with milk or saline without scrubbing. Keep it in milk or saliva and come to the clinic within 30 minutes if you can.

  2. Broken tooth

Rinse with warm water and save any pieces. A cold compress on the cheek helps with swelling.

  3. Toothache

Take the pain reliever you normally use, following the label. Do not put aspirin directly on the gum.

  4. Lost crown

Keep it in a small container and bring it. Avoid chewing on that side until we see you.

Go to a hospital emergency room if you have swelling that makes it hard to swallow or breathe, a high fever, heavy bleeding that does not stop, or a facial injury from an accident.

FAQ

Emergency questions

Can I get a same-day emergency appointment?

In most cases, yes. Message us on WhatsApp describing what happened and we will give you the first available time that day, Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 8 pm.

Can I walk in without an appointment?

We work by appointment only. Even if it is an emergency, please message us first so we can prepare your visit and keep the waiting time short.

What should I do if it happens at night or on a Sunday?

Go to a hospital dental emergency service (guardia odontológica). If you have swelling that makes it hard to swallow or breathe, or a high fever, seek medical care immediately. You can also message us and we will reply as soon as we open.

Will I need to have my tooth extracted?

Not necessarily. Whenever possible we try to save the tooth, for example with a root canal or a restoration. Extraction is only for teeth that cannot be saved and for some wisdom teeth.

Can I claim the cost with my travel insurance?

We give you a payment receipt for your visit. Each insurance company has its own requirements, so check with yours which documents they need before your appointment.

Do you take X-rays at the clinic?

Yes. We have digital X-rays at the clinic, so the diagnosis is usually made during the same visit.
